RE: United States and Iran

Negotiating with dictators be it military or religious has never worked. Oh and by the way,be it military or religious,a dictatorship is still a dictatorship and such should never be talked to. How many years is the world community going to negotiate with Iran?until they do another Holocaust? The world community has done enough negotiating. Time for action has come. Yes,maybe the Iran population is happy with a religious dictatorship.Maybe they are not. Personally, seeing the manifestations the last few weeks,I believe the Iran population wants freedom, however, they have all been conditioned to obey the "master" no matter what. Such a thing is hard to beat. In addition, personally, during the manifestations I was hoping for someone within the opposition to take control and launch a full rebellion. But again,it is hard to revolt when you have been trained and conditioned all your life to obey.

And if you were the Israeli government, how would you defend israel and its population?By laying down and talking and talking until you are out of breath? No.To force you respond with force. As far as I am concerned,Israel stopped too soon and they should have sent their special ops to eliminate the Hamas political and military leadership

Exactly,if it was happening here, people would want war no matter what other nations say. Same with Israel. Personally I am not really happy with the ceasefire, but I also understand that the Israel government wants to be seen as advocating peace. In addition, declaring a ceasefire,it allows Israel to relaunch the offensive as soon as Hamas attacks and to say "see,we stopped our offensive and began to pull our troops. And Hamas is attacking us".

This letter is an outrage. Israel is defending itself against a terrorist organization. The Palestinians are only getting what they had coming since they are the ones that voted Hamas to power. Hamas is a terrorist organization who wants Israel off the map. Israel must defend itself at all costs.

JohnS,your comment is racist and disrespectful. I am not even going to respond to your comment about Israel as a country. As far as Gaza, israel left it back in 2005 or so.Hamas had and has control of Gaza. What Hamas is doing is not defending its territory, but attacking a country. Hamas and the palestinians are only getting what they deserve as far as I am concerned.

danny_now, How is it then that we don't see the same type of outrage against Hamas for firing rockets on Israel? Civilian casualties are deplorable and sad, however, for all intents and purposes, the civilians death are on the hands of Hamas and the palestinians themselves since they are the ones that choose to support a terrorist organization bent on destroying Israel.

Gov. Rick Perry today issued the following statement on the ongoing conflict in Gaza: “Hamas must cease its attacks on Israel. No other nation on earth would be expected to stand idly by while a neighbor fired missiles and mortars into its cities, but Israel is being held to an unreasonable, irresponsible standard of restraint. Instead, the world community should be united in its support of Israel’s right to defend its citizens and clear in its condemnation of Hamas. “While I am saddened by the loss of life on both sides, a suitable resolution to the conflict is possible if Israel's neighbors will acknowledge Israel's sovereign right to defend its people. That acknowledgement would be an essential first step toward a lasting peace. “The world community must not tolerate terrorism in any form, regardless of any false nobility assigned to its perpetrators or their motives.” http://www.texasinsider.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=5691%20%20%20%20%20

Hamas is a terror organization. It concerns everyone and no one should be even talking to Hamas. Hamas is the one not recognizing Israel's right to exist.Israel is only doing what is needed to defend its citizens. If the Palestinians don't want anymore civilians, they need to take care of Hamas for good and make sure that Hamas is not shooting at Israel anymore. And if countries want for Israel to stop, those countries should provide Israel with written and public guarantees that no more rockets will ever be fired at Israel

My guess is yes, they are guessing that Obama and his administration will not be as supportive as the current administration.

See,if I were the Israel's president/prime minister,I would say to the world leaders as follow: "You want a ceasefire?Fine. However,if at any point any rockets are fired against Israel, your country will be held personally responsible and we will respond appropriately, including attacking your country"
