I beg our senators and representatives to not only keep but restore TEG funds to the level of $1,000.00 per student. Our private colleges rely heavily on these funds and it would be devastating to withdraw them. Education is not the place to cut! Thank you for the good job you are doing. I am proud to be served by you.

My three grandsons have attended the Early Learning Center in Danville at one time or another for the last 11 years. The youngest is now 10 months old and has been going to the daycare there since he was six weeks of age. They have just notified the parents and caregivers of the closing on June 29th. Most of the people who have children in this daycare are lower to middle income and rely upon the subsidies that the...

Apropos of the President's mention last night of rewarding national service with the opportunity of college, why not create a MediCorps--a sort of Doctors Within Borders--who are sent to med school in return for a number of years accepting Medicaid and other low-income patients (with the resultant lower payments) in the patient's communities. As someone with a disabled wife on Medicaid insurance, I experience...

Labeling special education students is a serious issue in the school system today. The labels are needed by the schools for IEP and funding, it separates students from peers greatly. I believe that is could be possible that educating students and staff on learning disabilities will allow them to have a better understanding and realization that labeling and grouping of these remarkable students will only have a...

As a fellow teacher I find this next presidential election important because we will be seeing a new direction in public education. As a public school teacher I am very aware of what the costs are personally if school vouchers were enacted but I am far more concerned with student achievement and what that means to our country's future position in the world. Student achievement coupled with a choice to what...

I am a Child CAre Provider for 35 years and counting, This is the first year that really scare me not to have a secure job for ME, PARENTS, TEACHERS etc., a secure quality child care for our FUTURE LEADERS (our children), it is very sad that all the parents of California who are receiving help for child care and they can go to work or looking for better education need to stop working to take care...

I am asking liberals to stop complaining. They don’t have any reason to.
My background: I was fortunate enough to receive a well-rounded education, most are not. I attended a private college where opposing views were welcomed and encouraged. While taking a philosophy class at this Christian liberal arts college, we were instructed to read Bertrand Russell’s Why I’m Not a Christian, so that we would understand all sides...

Would it seem ridiculous to teach our college students that the earth is flat? Well, we might as well. Just five years ago, while taking a college biology class, my professor taught the curriculum that used Haeckel's findings as fact for evolution. These findings stated that since his embryos of a fish, salamander, tortoise, chicken, hog, and human were almost identical, this means that they...

I believe we should have prayer and Bible teachings in ALL schools, GOD bless America! I came from a Christian School. I went to public school for 1 year. I couldn't take it, I left. The kids are 100 times ruder, in my NINE years of going to my christian school there was only ONE fight. How is that for some facts. Its insane at public school kids are out of order, no respect, no control, they just DON'T care. The bible...

As a mother of two, I am stunned at the mess this state has made of the current educational system. It seems that it is run by the Teachers Union and Service Employees Union (CTA and SEIU). It disgusts me that our classrooms have gone from such a revered place to a place where the only people that are scared are the teachers! Kids know that the teachers, principals, etc. do not have any power over...
