To whom it may concern:

First thank you for the giving of your time and resources to the betterment of our country and to the protection of our way of life here in America.

But I would like to know why we don't have an Energy Policy?

The reason why our gas prices are going up is due to supply and demand. China & India are coming on to the world stage and their emerging middle classes are demanding more energy.

The world currently is producing 86million barrells/day while we consume closer to 90. Here in the US we used to produce 10 million barrells/day we now produce closer to 7.

Yet we prohibit drilling off our East coast, West coast and part of Alaska. The Gulf has still not gotten back up to production prior to the BP spill, when all the other rigs were currently compliant.

Then congress stopped the construction of the Keystone pipeline to our Texas refineries. Why?

We have not had any form of an energy plan since Carter. The Carter administration proposed the extraction of crude from the Peon"s Basin of Colorado it has never been developed. We still have nowhere to dump our nuclear waste. We are closing dams in California, coal mines in the East. Why? what good reason can be connected to this undercutting of our current way of life. To produce windmills and solar panels? Even if they were developed at this present time the cost to the consumer would be astronomical. and they do not address the fuel we need for transportation in this country.

China has a plan. They, over the last 3 years, are issuing loans to state owned oil companies to the tune of $120 billion, then recieving payment in the form of oil. This sets them up to recieve the better, cheaper to refine crude that we currently enjoy. One more thing that China is undercutting us with. I am all for competition but not the undermining and derelict of duty of our elected political officials. This is what you are to be doing, the protecting of our American way of life not the bogging down in petty social issues.

John Hofmeister made the following proposal:

10 million barrells/day of crudeoil, which we used to produce

3 million of natural gas, which the flex engines in NASCARs use

2 million ethanol

2 million hydrogen fuel cells that the Bush administration funded and the current administration try to kill but, didn't thanks to congress. Thank you.

We import 11-13 million barrells /day. We don't produce enought to export the above proposal will take care of our demands. I again ask do we have a plan?

Instead we have AG Holder forming an anti-trust committe. What oil company would engage in such practices with this present hostile anti oil administration breathing down their necks and watching every they make. They do nothing with out a room full of lawyers present to insure they do everything by the book. These are just red herrings. Again I ask WHY?

Canada has plenty of oil Mexico would love to learn how to refine theirs, instead what are we doing? Where is our NAFTA agreement in this area? Why would you tolerate not doing business with our neighbors and continue to allow our country to be held hostage by those who don't like or approve of our lifestyle.

We are an oil based economy whether we like it or not. It's in just about every commodity we produce so while oil prices go up so does everything we consume.

We need an Energy plan, along with getting our debt under control, tax & campaign reform. These are the things we need to be concentrating on not social issues which should be left to each individual state.

Again thank you for your service to the protecting of our country from those who want to harm us from within as well as without our borders.

Sincerely and May God bless America,

MJ Rives
