I don't even know where to begin with this letter. Ill just say this. Newt is a historian and his beleifs are a lot like those of the founding fathers of this country. As we are going now, as a country, we are moving farther and farther away from the principals that founded this country, made it great, and differentiated it from others at that time. I don't agree with everything in his personal life, but I do agree wtih his ideas for our country.

Phydo, when people are attacking the style of the letter, instead of the intent, you know there's no arguing. Of course Pelosi isn't the first to be caught lying, just the latest. Pretty high ranking one too. Now we'll see if the normal double standard still applies. When a republican lies he's out. If dems are caught lying, other dems just rally around them until the issue goes away and they keep their job.

Definately agree with you on this one JM. While it may actually help the economy in the short term, this isn't what America is about. Our capitalist economy is very resiliant and goes through ups and downs and we need to let it work. I will say that Bush did propose as many as 12 oversight ideas over his 7 1/2 years which were always shot down in the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, headed by Chris Dodd, which voted right down party lines every time with the dems killing them time and time again. No wonder why Dodd was the largest recipient of contributions from Fanny and Freddy.

I think the problem with Freddy & Fannie was that the govt was already too invested to let those two fail. I agree that the less govt the better! Although I do like ice cream so I may change my mind if Cold Stone goes belly up.

I don't know much about JROTC, but isn't it a voluntary program for the student? I could be wrong on that. I do know that it is not the responsibility of our military to primarily perform humanitarian assistance and constructive assistance to people that need it and if it ever comes to that we are in big trouble.

Seeweed, you forget one thing... The radical muslims already want to destroy us. Planes, nuclear bombs, other dirty bombs, it doesn't matter to them. 9/11 didn't happen because we were "illegally occupying" onen of their countries, it happened because their religious belief is to kill anyone that doesn't agree with them. You can't reason with this belief diplomatically.

Yeah we need to change the fact that police can't check immigration status when they stop someone. I'm not sure if it's an acutal law or just a directive from the police cheif.
